Not sure if this is the right forum for this....but have a few questions for the 'collectors' out there....

There is a farm auction for a local rancher/outfitter that is selling a bunch of equiptment, tack, and firearms. I've looked over the list but dont know much about the value of the firearms listed. I'd be interested in a few, have to check the condition, etc of them but I'm curious if there are any that I should be watching closer than others, and maybe some that would be worth more (assuming condition is decent). Anything look really interesting??

I'll just comment loosely on the ones below:

• US 1865 Springfield 45-70 rifle
IF in "shootable" condition prices for these start at $750 and go up (rapidly from there)

• Marlin 22 cal lever action
Presuming it's a model 39 the prices would start at ~$175 and could be worth as much as twice that (or more) depending on condition
and vintage.

• Winchester #1892 44 WCF Hex
barrel lever action
Don't know precisely because again several variables but Minimum of $750 if there is even a trace of original blue visible on the exposed parts and no pitting.
I've seen a couple locally offered for sale at $1700 that literally vanished off the dealer's rack at that price.

Hell, pre-64 '94's now trade for $450 and up even if a bit rough.

Dont worry....you didnt burst my bubble one bit.....lol.....I've seen a few good auctions and missed some good deals....these ones I'm hopin I'm prepared for....thanks though!

The ones I saw go for $1700-ish were nicer than "trace of blue and no pitting" they were 50% blue or so...
and the bores were good...

And there once was a reasonably nice (with original color case colors still on the receiver) 1892 in 32-20 that went
for $2100 literally as soon as the owner put it on the rack...

Then again there was an 1886 Winchester recently
in 45-90 that was offered for sale marked at $5995
and it sold within three days.
and that rifle was pure patina, if there was any blue on it at all it was inside the rifle, because there wasn't any on the outside.

Don't turn up your nose at that springfield either, if it's in really good shape it could be worth quite a bit...
Hell the good replicas are $1000...

Do you know how to make a "reflector" by curving a white buisness card? (so you can inspect the bore)
