AnotherAZWriterAperture sight for a Win 92
Guys,
I just bought a Win 92 in .44 Mag. Love the gun, but hate the sights; that buckhorn is an abomination. Any recommendations on a an aperture/ghost ring sight?
This is my first lever action, so I am out of my league.
Thanks.

MikelravyI like a Williams Foolproof and a fibre optic front personally. It isn't extremely rugged though.

AnotherAZWriterThanks Mike, but I don't think the FP fits on a Mod 92 - anyone else ever done it?

crsheltonMy 1892 .357 has a Lyman receiver sight with aftermarket brass large aperture and it is very easy and fast to get on target.
The holes in the receiver under the sight are where the saddle ring was.

Hey, thanks. I will take mine to my gunsmith and have him fit one.
You might want to try a ghost ring aperature sight from
www.xssights.com It straddles the bolt across the top of the receiver. I have one on my 454 casull Rossi Puma 92 and I like it much better than the Lyman 48 I have on a Marlin 44 mag. You will probably need a taller front sight and XS Sight Systems also has them. i needed a .600 tall sight on the 454.

You might want to consider the original premium rear sight for the 1892 - the tang sight.

How do you like the Rossi in .454 Casull? I have the Redhawk Alaskan in that caliber - what a handful.

well, I want to use this gun for hunting, and I don't think the tang sight is handy enough.
AZWriter: It is a great big bore lever gun. The Legacy Sports version of the Rossi I have has a large rubber recoil pad and even at a weight of about 6 lbs. the recoil is very manageable. I was skeptical about the 92 action being able to handle the 454 Casull but at the watered down SAAMI specs for the casull my gun has not been battered. Just as Paco Kelly at leverguns forum has written. A good companion to a FA83. I use it for polar bear protection while fishing in Hudson Bay where no handguns are allowed.
