My favorite message board for lever actions has shut down apparently permanently for "administrative and technical reasons". I hope the members on that forum will regroup here.
I was there occasionally, but didnt really get intrigued again until about a week ago, when i was looking around on gunbroker and saw the beautiful Marlin 336 Cowboy in .38-55. I am going to try and find a place in my area that has one in stock that i can handle. They look really nice in the pictures, but I thought the same of the Marlin 1894 until i held one. I already own a 336A in .30-30 with the 24" barrel, and my dad has a 444S, and i love them both, i just kind of want some variety. I am also looking at a Winchester 94 in .32 SPCL. I was looking at a Winnie 94 in .44 Mag, but I have pretty much abandoned that idea because when i can afford it, i will be getting a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Mag.

Don't worry about the Marlin Bullseye. It should be fine, but even if it gets damaged, Marlin sells them for a buck, and they are long enough that I can get two of them out of one plug.
Uncle Alvah,
I'm upset too, but we really don't need the foul language. Hope they see fit to bring it back, but until then I too will hang out at the Marlin-Colletors Assn. forum.
Good to see some of your familiar names here!

For the language I do apologize. But the measure of a company extends beyond its product. And to treat a very loyal group of supporters like that, with a retorical "non-explanation" as to their decision speaks volumes to me about the core of the company. To eliminate the site is their perogative. To slap the members in the face is unforgivable. Low class.......

I am bummed that the Marlin site is down! I learned alot from reading there. I did sign up to post there though and my username and password never let me on for some reason. So the questions that I had and would have like to have posted there, I just posted them here instead. I did get my questions answered but it would have been nice to post over there to help out where I could.
Anyway, I did drop a refinishing question on the Gunsmithing forum here. If you can help out please do. I am wanting to refinish my Guide Gun's stock and forend. I am concerned about the Marlin trademark bullseye on the stock and waa wondering what will happen to it if I get some chemical stripper on it?
What do you folks think?

I used to visit quite often but switched to other boards of interest because of the constant bickering between a few of the members there. I did glean a lot of info from the board and I appreciate all the help. If members can't act decently towards each other or a gracious host, i.e. Marlin, then what can one expect. I wouldn't go to another persons house and shit on their floor and expect to be warmly invited back.

Wow,and to think, I thought the guy that gave the board 30 days was just paranoid, apparently he was being optimistic. I've lurked there for a couple of years and will miss it. I'm glad there's boards like this one out there. JT
