Yes they work fine. Don't try to hotrod it, stick with cowboy action level loads. A 250 gr lead bullet @900fps will kill anything in PA out to 100 yards. At the range, wear a glove as the barrels do get quite hot in rapid fire. Neat rifle for an ambush or still hunter.

I have one and absolutely love it, you have to watch your overall length as the rounds ride in a lifter and can't be too long, more so than most lever actions. Cowboy loads can take whitetails at least at 86 yards, that I know for myself. If you like levers you need one of these. There's something about the challenge of Deer hunting with one of these. Do they have the "UP" iron frame model back in production again? I had one about twenty years ago, when Dixie had a run made.

I had mine out today. it's a .45colt. I usually practice with mine at 50yds. It seems that when I shoot at 100yds i'm all over the place with it. Seeing at 100 yds with my old eyes is probably my problem. I do use a marble tang site it helps some. joe45c

you really "THINK" your collection will be done? Have you seen my M71/86 clone yet here? A local gentleman did the rifle, and Turnbull did some fitting and case hardened it. You have lever-itis, and there is no known cure for the disease. regards, Rich
