If anyone is interested I handled a Savage 99 today in .300 Savage. In excellent condition except for a few handling marks. They took it in on trade today, and they’re asking $650. Might be bought for a little less. If interested, you can contact the ACE Hardware store in Blue Ridge, GA. I am not involved in this rifle at all. I just know there are many on AR who love these rifles, and this is a good one. Serial number is 749210. The caliber is very common, lots of them for sale on the internet..The 99 in rare calibers are well sought after, primaril the 1950s fWT in 250-3000, 284 and 358 that are fetching $1500 to $2000. 300s are going for $500 to $600 locally..Many of the old 99 are brnging big bucks depending on condition..Ive been an off and on 99 collector or trader for many years..I love them, they are made on a mill and not stamped out, the workmanship is super nice, and they are the ultimate saddle gun and that meets my requirements best of all, as most of my hunting is horseback..Sounds like this one is in the ball park price wise.. An amazing thing about a 99 is how well they respond to a proper glass bedding job, It seems they all shoot around an inch or better when done right..Ive bedded probably a 100 of them over the years.
