When you say "tried them all," would that include any Aimpoint products?

Would you care to recommend a low-powered scope with an objective bigger that 20 mm?

I have tried em all including a Millet SP1 red dot on my 45-70 and have come to the conclusion that nothing beats a low powered scope as an aiming device under low light conditions. On the other hand the red dot was very fast and a light sighting device that had no light gathering capabilities. A light mounted on the scope or a remote controlled light covering a feeder combined with a scope having heavy crosshairs are best.

I have a Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70. Currently I have it scoped with a Leupold M8-2x extended eye relief scope on an Ashley/XS Sight Systems Scout Mount. (See http://www.xssights.com/catscout.html if you want a picture.)

I tried it for pig hunting but found the combination of the reduced field of view and poor light gathering capacity of the scout-style scope made it less functional than the conventional scope on my other rifle.

If anyone has any experience with an illuminated reticle scope or a red-dot type of sight on this rifle, I'm all ears.
