I recently acquired one of these and want to know if there is a half cock feature on this carbine. Mine does not seem to have it and I am wondering if it is malfunctioning. My carbine was built prior to the crossbolt being added to the winchester line. Thanks in advance for any help. Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison...

Taking a guess, while the experts gather their thoughts, I think it has a rebounding hammer and on fireing it comesback slightly, so if the safety can be applied when uncocked the fireing pin will not be on a live primer anyway.? JL

Thanks for replying, JAL. I think I may have found out the info I needed...my carbine does indeed have a rebounding hammer and from what I read elsewhere on the web, has no half-cock feature. I do not plan to carry it around with a round in the chamber, but wanted to make sure it is not malfunctioning. I appreciate any and all additional replies, however, as this firearm was purchased used and did not include the owner's manual. Best regards, Mike Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison...
