Thanks Chuckwagon, It is a TB restoration and does come with the Cody Museum letter. The restored rifle matches the specifications of that record in all ways and appears to be genuine. This bloke also has another identical one that has not been restored. It is also the Deluxe English Proofed short-barrelled rifle, full mag, express sights, fancy wood and so on in .50-95 Ex. Mechanically it's still tight and sound. It has quite a bit of handling wear and retains only about 20% original finish. It does have a minute amount of very shallow dings and very light pitting, but for its age these are minor. Most of the wear appears to possibly be related to lots of honest use and over cleaning. It was out of a maharajah's armoury in India and was used for Tiger hunting. What would the second rifle be worth? It is a good honest rifle that's a bit worn from years of use. The owner is a bit less keen to get rid of this one, but is open to the idea. | ||
