Question What scope is recommended for a Marlin 1895 GS 45-70, to be used in Northeastern pa whitetail deer hunting and Black bear?
I have been considering Leupold 1..75 to 5 or a Bushnel red dot from cabelas
Ammo Suggestions?

Winchester 300 grain jhp's sound right?
garrets 415 hard cast?
buffalo bore ?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The above poster is right .Don't be put off by those that think the 45/70 is not.! a big bore rifle.
It is and fall's well within the bounder's of such.
Now as for a scope ..Thats a good choise for a scope

and as for deer gezzzz buddy you don't need any of Randy Garrett's ammo nor Buffalo bore's to drop deer.
A good 300 grain will do the job quite fine.
The low veloc/ round's ment for the older 45/70's sold by Reminton will work fine.. Ya don't want to be packing out
180 LB of blood shot meat just use the slow mild rounds

when you decide to start reloading for your 45/70
then we can talk bullet type's ment for your Marlin GS

but for now just stick with what work's and remmber SAVE YOUR EMPTY BRASS.!! Some day you may want to reload it

have fun guy
