Picked up a almost new blr in 270 win it's the bag grip model, as I have a 270 am wondering what to rebarrel to, Maybe just a rechamber to 270 Weatherby, only require opening the boltface as the cases run through the mag as if made for the cal, What do you think?
You would also have to ream the chamber for the dimensions of the Weatherby, i would rebarrel it to .35 Whelen, no other work would be necessary. The 270 would cover most stuff and the Whelen could be used for bigger big game.

I already have a 35 whelen, so was looking for something different. have thought of a big bore, with short barrel for fun, and I have access to a 270 weatherby reamer so that does not present any problem. Lynn
Not sure the 7mm Wby would solve any problems the 270 won't but it's your project. Now, if you're serious about a big bore and don't mind opening the bolt face a 458 Win Mag might make an interesting thumper...
You already have a whelen you say ? I think I would build another one anyway ! Set the lever up with a good peep site. You might just get a rebore. Of corse a .338, 06 would be fun too ! ...tj3006
I never thought of a 458 win,mmm I already have a barrel in 458/350rem mag wonder if a regular 458 reamer would clean it up. with a 20-22" barrel it would really deliver. Oh the 458/350 just did not gain over the 458 american so pulled it for something else. Have to do some measuring. Lynn
I already have a 375 whelen on a husqvarna also a 416/280 rem so the 06 head size is pretty well covered. Tried a 458 win in the rifle looks like just the magazine for a 300 win or 7 mag, open the bolt face, thread and chamber the barrel BINGO you r in business. A 458 win mag levergun. My barrel is 21 3/4 long-good brush gun?
