| Depending on its age your Trapper ought to be drilled and tapped on the left side of the receiver already, or if it's an angle eject model at least XS makes a receiver sight that attaches to the drilled and tapped holes intended for a rear scope base. The XS sights are on the tall side and will require a new front sight. IIRC the Trapper's front sight is silver soldered to the barrel so you're looking at more of the same (and reblueing) or a dovetail cut or drilling and tapping for a front sight base. Nice little rifles the Trappers. |

You are right about the frame being drilled and tapped. This is not a AE.The front sight on this one is dovetailed in the barrel. |

Then a Williams or Lyman receiver sight will bolt right on. Since you already have the dovetail cut look at Brownells or Midway for Brockman's post front sight. The ones I have came with a thin brass line up the middle so it could be thick enough to be sturdy and still provide a fine aiming point. It's possible that an XS post front sight with the white line up the middle will work too but I haven't played with it. Good hunting! |
