I don't understand what is happening at Winchester. They close the Co. factory and drop the Mdl 70 and Mdl 94 but just released the absolute best reissue of the Mdl 95 Carbine I've ever seen. They really did a perfect job on this one. I realize it's Japanese but it's as close to original as you could get in this age of lawsuits. I think they will sell as many as they can produce. The caliber,30-40 Krag is spot on also, don't know if it comes in any other calibers or not. With the nostalgia boom in full swing and all the cowboy shooters outther I think they have a winner. I just brought my 30-40 krag 1895 carbine home yesterday. Serial number under 25. This is a Davidson's special order of 500. These are Mikoru made at the Browning plant. Good fit and finish, but they do have the rebounding hammer and tang safety-- so not original guns. I bought one of the 1895 30-06 case colored takedowns last year, nice gun also. | |||

I hate to criticise any working people, but I have first hand knowledge of American's overhaul facility in Oklahoma. People not comming to work, not working when they are there. American will move the facility to El Salvador (I think). I really don't think they want to do that because of all the liability problems they will have because of the quality of the overhauls and the dubious qualifications of the mechanics in El Salvador. The attitude of the of the people at the facility in Tulsa will cause the workers grief and American grief (Crashes and other problems). Not sure who is to blame. Now the reason that Zebco moved all their manufacturing to China was because Walmart told them they would stop selling there stuff in their stores if they didn't. Next time you go into Walmart to buy something then think about that. | |||

The 1895 Winchesters are made by Miroku in Japan for Winchester, not made in the States. Have been ever since they starting re-introducing them. This is the same company that makes the 1886's, the 1892's, the Brownings, etc... They are very high quality firearms. The only thing I don't care for is the tang safety. | |||

I was actually trying in my clumsy way to say that Winchester had brought to market a desirable well executed re-issue/reproduction of the 95 carbine. I am aware they are not made in the US as I so indicated. In fact I have had a 95 in 405 since long before they reissued it having had it built by Krieger. With the exception of the safety they have all the appearance of the originals. They even went so far as to reproduce the rear sight which I never thought they would do. I was just observing that while they have discontinued the 94 and 70 they continue to bring nice firearms to the market and I appreciate that fact. SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS | |||

I've wanted to see the carbine version of the 1895 reitroduced ever since Browning started making the M1895 back in 1984.The only reason we have it now is because It was Davidson's idea and they are buying the whole production run. The owners of the Winchester trade mark (that's all it is now)seem to have little idea as to what sells. | |||
