I posted this in the gunsmithing forum and thought I'd post it here also. I have a 2 year old win 94 in 444.While I was walking out of the woods tonight it jammed up, it has done this about 5 times over the last 2 years.I thought at first I was causing it, but tonight I was very deliberate in working the lever and it jammed anyway. The last cartridge in the magazine comes out of the mag before it should, and this locks everything up.My question is, is there a part that needs to be replaced in it that I could have my gunsmith install, should I send it back to winchester, or is this a common problem with the winchester design. If it's the latter I will get rid of it and get a marlin, niether of my other marlins have ever done this so if it isn't a faulty part thats the route I'll take. I was hoping maybe some of you have run into this and could help me out. thanks JT

taking a winchester apart isn't all that hard... if you have instructions in front of you. I've had my Big Bore apart several times, but still have to have the manual there as a reminder... if I shot it more, and had to take it apart more, I would eventually wean myself away from the manual.... it's not all that difficult.

JT The little "tit" is visible through the top of the action. It's right behind the mag, and is part of the floor of the action that moves downwards when you open it. No, it's not a common failure, but it can, and does happen, it has also been know for it not to be cut right in the first place. But that's usually in the early post '64s
