| I have owned a BLR in .243 for many years. Even after having the trigger worked a bit, it is not good. Lever guns just don't have real good triggers. My gun is as accurate as any bolt gun, but I would never buy another one. In the caliber you are looking for it would be great, but I think they are greatly over priced for what you get. |

| Raybass I have a newer 81' light-weight in .358 win, totally stock with handloads it will shoot MOA to 1-1/2" off the bench to 100yds. Talley light weight mounts with a Leupold ultra-light 2-1/2X keeps this rifle very light and handy and i would buy another in a heart beat. Most people seem to find the accuracy on par with most bolt guns, not bad at all |

| raybass: I'm with sbhooper about the trigger on lever guns not being so hot (and I grew up under the influence of a Savage 99 fanatic who considered my purchase of an old Springfield as a teenager as an act of disloyalty) However, I guess it's no problem -if the shot is under 125 yards or so. I don't know what the brush or cover is like in East Texas but if the shots are under that distance then go to it! (A word of caution since you mention that a lever may be new to you. Exactly like the bolt action, you don't want to be too fast in jacking in the second round. "Make haste slowly". The great thing about the lever (in my opinion) is that I think it handles the second round being jacked in with no more fuss than the bolt action -as long as you don't try to go too fast. (Your lever will work faster and faster as you go along and I'm not suggesting that you have to do some slow motion routine after you get used to it) |

| Just yesterday I was looking at targets I have saved, and came across a target I shot on 2-7-05, and a three shot group that measured .967 center to center. It was shot by my old pre-81, pot belly mag, .358 win BLR. This was using Winchester 200 grain silvertip factory ammo. |

| My business partner has one in a 308 non take down and was never able to get it to group with any satisfaction. He has since acquired other shooters and was wondering what he should do with the BLR, wanting to unload it. |

| The whole key is to shoot it enough to get used to the trigger. |

| Hello
I am thinking about buying the BLR in the 450 marlin. Do any of you have one? And have you work up any stiff loads and chronographed them?
Thanks Mark |
