I'm thinking about getting a Marlin 1895 Cowboy and was wondering what kind of actual chronographed velocities are achievable in the 26" Bbl with a 300 - 325 grn jacketed bullet.

Thanks

Over at http://www.marlinowners.com you may get a better answer on the Big Bore forum. I personally would not supe up a 300 grainer in a 1:18 twist barrel. You can still get some pretty decent loadings in the 1500 to 1700 fps range.

I know if I was carrying this one, I would prolly use one of Marshalls Beartooth Bullets called the 425-gr Pile Driver but for a list of great cast bullets for loading your own Beartooth Bullets

I know with all the selections of bullets out there and such its a real pissers contest.

Hope this helps
