Although I usually handload, even for my 30_30, I just had to try some of these. Three shot groups easilly under and inch at the range from my Marlin 30_30 w/a Leupold fixed 4X scope all day long, I'm impressed. Anyone have any on game performance reports for this bullet?

Thanks,

ned

As a matter of fact, I killed a doe this morning with my Marlin 336T and LeverEvolutions. That make 4 deer in the last 3 weeks that have fallen to this combo. I, too, was inpressed at the range, but I am MORE impressed at their performance on deer. Little entrance and little exit, but devastation on the inside.

Jeff, what bbl length do you have. I ask because I have a Winchester with a 26" bbl and was wondering how fast they might go. Have you cronoed any yet? Or do you just like the results. Just got some in.

I am shooting a Marlin 336T which has an 18.5" barrel. I have a chrony but have never felt the need to check factory ammo. I DO like the results though.

To be honest he was shooting at about 100 yds and it's possible the bullet hit some very light brush on the way to the deer.....but isn't that what 30-30 hunting is all about??
He put it back on the shelf and went back to the good old rem 170 corelocks.
I've been loading the barnes 30-30 fn hp for another buddy. He's taken about 10 deer since they bullet came out......all pass throughs. We fell in love with them because they are super accurate and we found bullets in the sand behind the range at 100 yds that had perfect mushrooms and near 100% wt retention after pounding into the backstop.

1 30-30 LeverEvolution @100 yards with buck running flat out, 1 hour stalk in the short grass by my middle son, 1 very large Colorado Whitetail (200 lbs. field dressed), 1 busted rack because he did a full frontal sommersault.

Any questions?

Next time it's my turn to use the Hornady ammo.

Ultra Dot Pan-A-View. That's a Marlin 336C it's mounted on. We were getting about 2" groups at 100 yards with the single dot. It's hard to do better than that because the smallest dot covers about a fist-sized area at that distance. I have no doubt the groups could improve with a telescopic sight. The rifle has not been accurized. I traded my post-64 model 94 for it and have no regrets.
