Hey Guys<<>> One of my marlins lever action model 1895 in 45-70 has a serial # of B00390_ Can any one tell me the year of manufacture and if it would be safe with Buffalo Bore ammo? Thanks Maddog

Maddog, If it was made in 1972 and has the "B" prefix then it is Ballard Rifling. But to be sure just count the number of grooves. The Ballard cut barrel has 8 grooves. The microgrove barrels have 12 grooves

It was manufactured in 1972 and is of modern construction. Buffalo Bore specifically states their .45-70 Magnum Lever Gun ammo is intended for use in: All Marlin Model 1895 variations made since 1972.
