A "friend of a friend" has a M55 in 32 Special he is looking to move. It is the take down model. It is a well used hunter. No cracks in the wood loads of bluing gone. It is a tight gun for the age. What would a ballpark guess be on one of these as to value. Does the 32 Special add or subtract from the value? I know this is asking a lot sight unseen but I'm just trying to get a starting point. Thanks in advance for your time!

Check Guns International. There are 15 listed there and that will give you a good idea of your rifle. 1920s receivers did not hold the blue.

On GI is a deluxe 55 in .30-30, serial number 4, for almost 15K$!.

Here is one to use as a single comparison, price may vary by location but this price seems right in the middle at 1100-1200$, real nice examples were up to 2100$

This gun has extra aftermarket holes in the action for a receiver sight. It is no longer "collectable" & they are asking to much for a shooter.

Two grand is a starting point..I sold a like mint 25-35 mod. 55 for $4000, but it was the rare caliber and condition that sold it...I loved that gun but greed and a gun nut attitude took over...I paid $700 for it in 1958.

The 32 Special caliber seems to hurt the value in most Win. collectables, probably so in the mod. 55 as well, how much Im not sure.
