Can anyone send me some photos of a Leupold 1 piece QR mount on their Marlin .45-70 or .450. I am trying to find out if I could leave the mount on while I put the sight from a Williams 5D back into the dovetail. I know some of the 1 piece bases only have a single hole in the rear of the base. Thanks.
I have the weaver base on mine and had to mill about .375 off to leave the williams sight in place. You lose one of the 4 holes but they are large screws and with locktite it has held real well. I have Warne quick release rings for the weaver bases. That way I can remove the scope and use the williams peep /fire front sight and the scope returns to zero. I also had the front scopr mount for a scout setup added and can use either a scout setup or the normal 2.5 leupold over the receiver. setup my 336 30-30 the same way.Been using the new leverolution bullets in the 30-30 very flat shooting, can't wait to get them in 45-70

If you use a Weaver base with Leupold QRW's or Warne QD's, the scope can be replaced with a NECG peep that will fit on the Weaver base. It mounts a little farther forward than the receiver sight, but I haven't found it to be a problem.

NECG makes a version to fit a Weaver base as well as a version that fits on the Ruger integral base. I believe the Warne Maxima is "Weaver-like" so it may fit that also.
