Marlin 336 Feeding Problems

Gosh, I will have 5 posts on the same page. Must be the sign of a new father of a lever gun.... Shot the Marlin 336 today and it was good to hear it go boom. However, I encountered feeding problems if I worked the lever fast or if I tilted it at a 45 degree angle with muzzle forward and the ejection side slightly up. The cartridge ejects then the next shell jams 1/2 way out of the tubular magazine with the carrier (I think thats the lever that pushes the cartridge up into the chamber is called) below it. Yesterday my gsmith saw the new addition and thought the timing was good, but we did not cycle any rounds. Is this normal (BTW, this Marlin was produced in 1948, but appears to be in very good condition), and if not does anyone know of a cure?

Deke.

The only feeding problem I had with my 336 was when I tried some pistol bullets in my handloads. The OAL was too short and allowed a 2nd round to begin entering the feed box from the tube prematurley, thus causing a jam. Otherwise she fed like a dream.

I have never had any feeding problems with a Marlin, nor have I heard any complaints in all my years of messing with them....unusual...I would send it to Marlin right away...
