I started my hunting career with an old Remington 35 pump, with twist magazine, and have owned two marlins in 35. IMO the 35 is NOT a 200 yard cartridge. The 358 is! Stoney

Numrich lists Marlin part number 101160 as being the receiver number for the 30/30,35 Rem.,.356 Win.,and.375Win.,

evidently the same receiver is used for all of them.

SAAMI max. pressure for the .308 Win.,.307 Win.,.356 Win.,.358 Win.,and .375 Win.is listed as 52,000 PSI.

The pressure limit was set for the .35 Rem. years before Marlin chambered it.

mete: i agree with you. the difference in pressure rating between the two cartridges is not small. i spoke to a gunsmith here in Oklahoma about this very subject and he advised that it would be very dangerous to do. unless Marlin has built in one heckuva safety margin in their metallurgy (not likely) you're gonna probably ruin the rifle as well as get a trip to the hospital.

The problem with that rechamber is that the 35 has pressures of 35,000 psi and the 358 is 50,000 +. But looking at some old Remington reloading data ,even reduced loads offer improvement .35 Rem , 200 gr 4350, 46.5gr ,2030fps at34,300psi. 358, 200gr,4350,55gr, 2390 fps at 44,000psi.
