I am looking at getting a MachII and think I have already made up my mind (a CZ American) but I have only found CZ and Ruger who chamber in Mach II.

Ayyone know of any other manufacturer that does?

Thanks

t/c, magnum research - go over to rimfire central .com you'll find oodles of info there. nice little round, i didn't used to think it had much going for it as long as i had a 17 hmr, but then i found ammo was $3/box instead of $10.

Thanks fellas

Yes butchloc, I found that superb site last night. I had been on it before yonkers ago and forgot about it untill someone reminded me.

It even has a dedicated section the the HM2

Like you I dismissed it as a non entity until I looked at the ballistics and found that ammo was cheaper than 22 subs.

From what I can see it is the perfect rabbit round and not sure why it has not taken off more than it has. It is like a best kept secret. It's only as I say until I looked into it in more detail that I realised the benefits.

The one issue I have with my .22 is when lamping rabbits at night is judging distance and misses generaly occur when I have missed judged it. This tiny cartridge is virtually flat out to 100 so no more misses. Great.

Thanks Rusty yep forgot about the Sako. I think I have made my mind up though and am going to get a CZ American. They are great rifles and the first proper rifle I ever had was a CZ semi auto when I was 14 years old.

Can't wait to zap them bunnies heee heeee............

None of my business but that's a dying round, if you want to buy one, I suggest you stock up on a LOT of ammo when you find a round it likes.

Yes you may be right. I have heard from various sources to the contrary however.

If you are right my theory is that my local dealer has 14k rounds of Eley Eekerin which case would keep me going for more than my life time Smiler

I think to stock up on ammo though is the answer defo.

Marlin and Savage have cataloged bolt action rifles in 17HM2, but I like the Ruger 10/22 conversion the best. Green Mountain has been closing out their 96/22 17 HM2 barrels for awhile for around $65 and the 19" blued CM sporter contour work great when installed on a 10/22 action. Swap out the recoil spring for the 10/22 Magnum spring and install a synthetic buffer makes you range ready.

It is no trick to shoot black walnuts, squirrels, and bunnies out to 100+/- yards with the Eley 17 HM2's flat trajectory.

Doesn't have to be. Best thing Hornady could do is put out a lead free offering in 17 Mach2 and 17 HMR.

Like it or not there is an emerging need for lead free rimfire rounds and the 17 Mach 2 would be a good platform for exactly that.

Its a wonderful round, the only draw-back is the cost of the ammo. If you could get yourself a Marlin 917M2S or even the Kimbers. Wonderful guns, and the marlin is a gem (just adjust that trigger). My dad used it for Foxes, Coons and the ocassional coyote (he took 4 with it). Its a keep round.

Love the CZ!! Have had mine for about a year, and is wicked accurate w/Hornady ammo (your results may vary). Using a Leupold scope.
I use it primarily for starlings and red squirrels. Have killed larger squirrels instantly (shoulder shots to save meat). Even killed a 5 lb racoon w/one shot through the heart.
That little round is explosive on light skinned animals. Not many rabbits in my neck of the woods, but wouldn't hesitate.
Wind CAN be a factor when the velocity drops off.
Stick w/the CZ if you can. Put a good scope on it, buy lots of ammo and enjoy!!!

I picked up 4K rounds for under $3.50 per box. Mostly Eley, some Hdy. Marlin 917 SS lammy shoots great.
