I've yet to see the new T-bolt in the flesh, much less shoot one, but as the owner of an original T-bolt here's what I see from the literature, pics and specs:

The new model has a much straighter stock with a higher comb. This is an improvement as the old model's stock drop was way too much for scope shooting.

The new model has a much-touted 10 shot flush-mount magazine with an innovative double helix design. If it works it has obvious advantages over the old single stack five shot magazine.

The old model was Belgian and the action very precise. It was also very accurate. I'm assuming that the new is Japanese-made, and would hope (especially at the listed price) that the machining, fit, and finish are as good as the price is steep.

I'd really like to see the new model offered in left-hand, also.

Well, I've been on a waiting list for 2 months and finally said, "Screw it" and ordered one from Able Ammo in Huntsville, TX. Hoping they're good to deal with. I did get to see one in the flesh (already sold) & the owner let me handle it. Very light and well balanced. And I still prefer the gloss to the matte barrel. The action seemed smooth but tight. Looking to scope it with either a 4x Leupold RF or 2-7RF. Should be a sweet set up! I'll keep you posted.

Still no T-Bolt! My somewhat local gun shop got one in & I rushed to go pick it up only to be grossly disappointed! It had 2 handling marks and looked as if everyone and their brother had handled it...especially by the barrel. And the wood was awful; somewhat dark but blotchy and really plain. So I went home T-Boltless. Now Able Ammo says I won't get one from then until February! I'm hoping it will be worth the wait.

I tend to agree. But, as a collector of .22's I really feel I need to have one. I just wish they would come with nicer wood. Perhaps they should consider reducing the current MSRP ($611) to about $500, & then offering a premium grade with a fancier stock (maybe even rosewood tipped) for an additional fee of upwards of $200. Just a thought.

No up to date, mine was given to me by my father when I was a kid, I love it. I probably love shooting rimfire because of this first encounter.

I read a gunmag test on one and remember that it wasn't very accurate, but that may only mean it didn't like the ammo types they tried.

Gunmags tests make me laugh most of the time, they shoot a handful of ammo and write "this model is not accurate".

Yeah well, laughing is not my usual response to gun mag sheanagins. In this case by memory they considered the accuracy to be OK, which it was. The trouble being all the results we see of wonderous 1/2 inch groups everywhere, and we hope for it all the time.

I'm sure we'd all be shocked at what gets edited out of tests as the managers suck up to the manafactures for their advertising dollar.

I like my 77-22, which has been accurate with select ammo, and averages OK for a field rifle, but I'm learning that the barrels may get pulled downwards due to the set-up involved.

A new match grade barrel wouldn't go amiss. The bolt only uses one locking lug. (I guess the second is for looks or something.) The bolt body join gets loose and gives too much headspace. The trigger WAS fairly jerky. But hey, it has always gone bang. So far.

I finally got to see one. Williams Gun Sight, Davison Michigan, had the 22LR 'Varmint' version with a heavy (?) barrel and laminated stock. I coon-fingered it a little. The action is indeed different than the original. Seemed tight enough. Was quite lightweight compared to my 452 CZ but the balance seemed okay.

Seems to me the price was six hundred something. I asked the guy if they had a .22 Mag or 17 HMR and he said not in stock, that the aforemention .22 LR was the only one they had.
