A friend of mine is looking at a used Remington 40X. It is a bolt action 22lr. What are these things worth??

It's kinda difficult without looking at this particular firearm. As a whole, these rifles were hard to compete with in their day and are still doing quite well. I have a 40X 22LR with the heavy barrel. I installed a after
market trigger on mine...didn't really care for the trigger as it came. You can expect to spend anywhere from $850 to $1200, according how much you add on. Most important, is to put a good high power scope such as Sightron, Weaver or Leupold.
With the correct ammo, you'll be amazed at the groups these rifles are capable of
