I shoot a couple of old single shots chambered for 22 Short in a smallbore offhand league on an outdoor range. I tried Fiocchi Super-Match Shorts last year, the type with the copper cases. About 3 or 4 % of them simply disappeared out the end of the barrel. I do not know what happens to them, but there are no bullet holes on the target at 50 feet. One case detonated, with the top of the case disappearing, but leaving the bullet still crimped to the rest of the case. The remains extracted normally, but the flash on detonation lit up the shooting house. After shooting, I cleaned the rifle. The Fiocchi stuff leaves some very hard granules in the barrel. Is this ground glass from the priming. After all those negative comments, I must report that the Fiocchi stuff shoots measurably smaller groups than CCI Target Shorts. Has anyone else tried this ammunition? Waterman | ||
