Friends- For all of you Winchester Model 52 experts; how can you tell a Model 52 C from a B, etc.? I have one of the newer Model 52 sporters that USRA/Winchester had manufactured in Japan by Mikuro (sp?). It does have the two screws on the bottom to adjust the trigger. Does that make it a Model 52C? Thanks in advance. May the wind be in your face and the sun at your back. P. Mark Stark

There is a bit of information here: http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Winchester_Model_52_rifles.htm For the best descriptions with details, etc you need to get the book: THE WINCHESTER MODEL 52 PERFECTION IN DESIGN by Herbert G. Houze Pete

The one you have is a 52C with the MicroMotion trigger. I have the same rifle. If you want to get a lighter trigger pull than possible as it comes from the factory, knock out the roll pin that limits adjustment at the bottom of the trigger. I did that on mine. Don

If you have a Winchester 52 made in Japan by Miroku, then you have a 52B Sporter which was a limited edition rifle. It is a faithful reproduction of the original 52 sporter with the action resembling that of the C model. This rifle was also reproduced by Browning. The Browning 52 was made from 1991-92 & limited to 5,000 rifles. The Winchester 52B Sporter (Limited Edition) was first introduced in 1993 with 6,000 guns being made. It was then re-issued in 1997 and limited to 3,000 rifles. The actions of the Browning and Winchester reproductions are virtually identical except for the stamping. However, the stocks are slightly different. The Browning has a slightly higher comb on the monte carlo stock. And the Winchester has a screw through the bottom of the forend, which is not present in the Browning. Too much is just right!

Nothing quite like the 52 Winchesters. Collected my first 25 years ago and got hooked. "There are .22's....and then there are the 52's"
