Have a Savage MK II, wood stock. After taking action and barrel off stock I found a round steel piece (diameter of a Penny 1/2" thick) dovetailed into barrel approx 1.5 inches in front of receiver. Stock has inlet hole for this steel piece...Anyone know why its there. I want to bed the action and I have never seen anything like this before...??
