Local Wal Mart just started getting the Federal boxes (500 or 550) back in. Think they are $28 a box! Couple of years ago they were under $10.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Have patience. The widows of the guys who are uselessly hoarding the .22 ammunition will be selling it at garage sale prices or giving it away after the old boys pass on. I'm sure that's what my wife will do with my personal horde.

In the meantime, they'll sooner or later run out of money or closet space and you can buy whatever you want at more normal prices.

By the way, the time to hoard was when cartons of 500 were $8.88, not $28.99.

I think Walmart has been buying less than they used to. I know they ship less to the stores than they used to.

A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

I just did some ammo testing and bought my stuff through midway because natchez was out of almost everything.

I've never seen Dynapoints around my area (which I want to try in a Ruger Govt 22) and then a couple months ago Sheels got tons of it! They were $20/500. I mostly stick to Federal bulk as it's all I can find locally for cheap...

What I need is to find somebody who has 30 Carbine bullets in stock. I got about 600 empty cases that need to be resurrected!

Stopped by a "Dick's Sporting Goods" store Monday. Just loafing around and worked my way to the Ammo area. They had one Brick of Wildcats, a box of Remington Target(100 count), a small box of CCI(something) and that was it. I asked the guy and he said they were piled up all over the place the week before, but word got out and they all sold.

He said they did not know those were arriving before they got there and he had no idea when they would have more.

Hey Ted, You sure did well! Eeker

I went to a Gun Show the 21st and the prices at it were up considerably from last year. The same ammo you got was $40. Routine stuff $35 and some stuff I could not pronounce was $26.95.

One thing to consider with the skyrocketing price of all things center fire some people are shooting a LOT of .22lr.

Conversion kits are more popular than ever, Companies like Walther and SIG are making .22 versions of their pistols and almost everyone is making a .22lr AR15.

I'd bet that not all of that .22 ammo is being hoarded. Wink

Yes, our Walmarts are back to having some ammo. I just bought 7 bricks of the Federal 550, along with 5 boxes of Winchester 22 mag ammo last evening at one. Of course, my wife had to buy six of the boxes and I had to buy the other six in order to meet Walmart's mandate on 6 boxes of ammo per day per customer.
