The standard 22 rimfire twist rate is and has since the time of the Model T Ford a 1 in 16” twist. Things are changing rapidly at the moment with lead bullets becoming prohibited for hunting. I have tried high velocity 22lr ammo in the past and also the new high velocity lead free ammo. The latter is putting ten rounds into a 3” group at 50 yards, whereas conventional ammo its a thumbnail size hole. I have seen there is quite of experimentation of faster twist 22 barrels being used, especially by those shooting 22s over long ranges. Anybody had an experience and does it work?

You might give Lilja a call/email. If any maker would know it would be him. He offers 1:9 twist .22rf bbls. C.G.B.

Al Straitiff of Compettitor Corp made what he called, "extruder" barrels for his SS handgun. The best was a .204 barrel with a 22.rf chamber and a tapered leade. I think it was 1-10 twist. They shot fantastic. The one I had that I was given to do some testing, I think DPCD has.
