I have evaluated over a dozen different types of 22 ammo for accuracy in my Savage Mark II rifle. I tried almost all the standard ammo (Remington, Winchester, and Federal--even their match ammo) and none of it grouped really well. I then evaluated several manufacturers match ammo (and different grades of their ammo). I tried the really expensive Laupua, Wolf, and Eley ammo. Some of it shot very well but I found that none of it shot significantly better than the SKS Standard Plus practice match ammo. (For me, the other doesn't shoot enough better to justify their much higher cost.) Has anyone else had similar findings? And, are there any issues with the SKS Standard Plus ammo (e.g., fouling, barrel damage, etc)? Red C. Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Red, This is the same ammo as Wolf Target. What are you paying for it?? Kudude

kudud: I believe I'm paying around $3.60 for a box of 50. I don't know if that's a good price or not. I live in a small town in SE Oklahoma and there is only one store that sells the stuff, so, they don't have much competition. Red C. Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I goofed. It is simply SK Standard Plus 22 rim-fire ammo, not SKS. Anyway, it shoots as good in my Savage as the stuff costing two or three times as much. Red C. Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I searched about a 1/4 of the state a week ago in search of some good, affordable 22 ammo. I went to about 6 different shops, nothing to speak of. I ended up at the local wally world, tried some of the Federal auto match. I just wanted somthing good enough to punch paper for bullseye. I have had good luck with PMC Sidewinder ammo, but I am down to less than a case of that and have not found any more. Last summer I used the aguila standard. It shot fairly well for me. Though this pistol does tend to like high velocity better than standard. I was shooting the Wolf MT and ME. Sorry they priced themselves to high for what I will pay for ammo. But, from the looks of it, if I want to keep playing with the 22RF's I had better bite the bullet. No pun intended. I have seen some reference to some of the Federal 510's and another number, I may even have this typed wrong. It was however supposed to be somthing that wally world stocked in different parts of the country. I have not seen it at any of the locals here though. Jeff

Red, That ammo shoots best in many rifles I have, more so than any other ammo, and it equals the high end ammo as well. I buy it as Wolf Match Target by the brick. Lots of places sell it by mail order. Good stuff. Don

Red, Get all you can at that price because it is/has gone up in price. You won't see it again for a while at 3.60 a box. It is running about 38/500rds plus shipping up to 50/500 plus shipping. Kudude
