I have received as a gift a Rem. 591M. This is the 5mm Rem Mag rifle. Problem is, this rifle had a run in with saltwater from Hurricane Katrina and the barrel is ruined. In addition, the magazine is missing. I am considering rebarreling this rifle and setting it up as a single shot.

Does anyone know of a smith that has the necessary tools/equipment to install a new barrel on this rifle?

Duckhunter39208, Brian Voelker is probably the most often named gunsmith to work on the Remington 580-540 series. Do you want to rebarrel to 5mm again? Also, if you'd like someone closer, there is a guy near Ellisville who does quite a bit of work on rimfires and shoots at a club there. He posts as "Rambo" on the rimfireaccuracy.com forums.
