I've pretty well decided to buy a Weatherby Mark XXII, both for offhand practice and for occasional trips into the squirrel woods. I'd appreciate any thoughts on an appropriate scope. My big-game rifles all sport Leupold VX-IIIs, which would be overkill for a .22. Still, I believe in quality glass. Any thoughts? (Real world experience with the Mark XXII would also be appreciated, before I actually put my money down) Thanks.

Put the same glass on a 22 as you would a ctr. fire- If you can't see it you sure can't hit it- I would go with a Leupold 3x9 EFR. I put a 6.5x20 EFR on a Ruger 77-22

I will second the recommendation of the Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm Ultralight EFR. Great scope for a .22 rifle. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I have owned a MXXII since 1968 a very accurate semi. Replaced the original (and now collectible) Weatherby scope with a 1.5 to 6 Burris Signature. The low power is great for moving targets ,the 6X is great for stationary ones. DuggaBoye-O NRA-Life Whittington-Life TSRA-Life DRSS DSC HSC SCI
