Lots of shooters believe that an inch group at 50 yards would be a 2 inch group at 100 yards. This is totally wrong. So to see how this holds, I have a KIMBER PRO VARMINT 22 rifle, and going to shoot it at both 50 and 100 yards with various ammo. To give you an idea, I tried the ELEY MATCH and ELEY TENEX at both distances. The ELEY MATCH was 1.9085 times bigger at 100 yards than it was at 50 yards. The ELEY TENEX was 2.6834 times bigger!

I’ve kind of wondered how the results would look if you used something like shotmarker and had the aiming target at 100, and used the electronics to detect the placement at 50 as well. Then there would be no nitpicking about separately shot groups. Optical angle is one thing. Projectile placement is another. If you did this with a centerfire round, would it be closer? I’m not the shot you are, but rimfire seems to be continually beset with lack of consistency in ammo performance.
