I have done one with a bull barrel and a Hogue stock I like it. It shoots real well also. But if I were to do another one I would get a longer factory contour barrel and just make an adult sized auto loader with better weight distribution than the long heavy bull barrels. I think it would make a neat carry gun. I hear the accuracy is just as good with the lighter contour barrels. DW

I have a 10/22 with the checkered Walnut stock .Over the years I have changed the hammer and springs ,bolt stop {buffer ?} extractor ,mag release and changed assorted pins that fit tighter.I finally found a Green Mountain sporter fluted barrel I think it's 18 in. That allowed me to use the original stock .I had to remove some wood in front of the receiver. I don't know if that barrel is still available there were far more fat barrels .
I am happy with the way it turned out, it now wears a Bushnell Trophy 4 X 12 scope.I use Federal Auto Match ammo
New trigger is first thing. Check out hornetproducts.com
After that just decide what you want it to be. Though most barrel modifications are .920" heavy ones, there's some lighter and sporter weight aftermarket barrels available if you want to go that route. Then the sky's the limit.

Both your 10/22s will benefit greatly from Volquartsen target hammers, extended magazine latches, and improved bolt open levers. Me, I'd put a Williams receiver sight kit and a Butler Creek or Choate folder on one of them. Might like a 16 inch barrel on that one too. For the other the sky is the limit...
