I'm looking into getting a 22 mag (to replace the one I shouldn't have sold 10 years ago!) and really like the look/feel of the tube-fed Marlin 983. Really like the absense of a magazine sticking out of the bottom of the stock too. If any of you have a tube-fed .22 mag and have shot the polymer-tipped V-maxes I'd love to hear how they functioned. I've read a couple accounts online that the pointed tip of the cartridge attempting to be chambered may hang on the manufactorer's stamp of the cartridge in front of it in the magazine tube. Also read that tube magazine follower (spring) won't seat properly on the the last cartridge in the tube and will actually "slip" off the pointed tip and jam against the tube wall. That person said he had to load a traditional 22 Mag last in the tube to correct this. I'm asking for your imput because I know the Hornady, CCI, and Remington ammo in polymer-tip .22 Mag is really gaining popularity. Thanks. | ||
