Ok here is probably the goofiest discussion to date. I am valuing a collection of guns for insurance purposes. The ins company told me that the Blue Book of Gun Values was an acceptable way to determine the value (or any other reputable source would work as well). The question is the little Romanian trainer. I know it is only worth $70 tops but the blue book doesn't list it. I know it was made by UMC, can't find it listed under any importer that I can think of, seems silly to pay $25 to get a $70 gun appraised. Is there something that I am not thinking of or another source to value it. I know for as little as it is worth it probably should be left off the ins policy but it is there and if there is a total loss it is worth more than nothing. Any help is appreciated

blue book is only one of the lists out there, for odd things go do a gunshop & have them appraise, most of them will do it for little or nothing

yeah that's what I was afraid I would hear, any I have talked to wanted $25-$40 and since it is debatable whether or not the gun is worth more than $70-$80 it hardly seems worth it!!! oh well I guess that's the breaks. thanx butchloc

I cant speak for your insurance company in USA. I used to work in insurance here in NZ my company would accept any reasonable method of valuing an asset.

Do a google search on your rifle and print off all the similar rifles for sale in USA that show their prices. Also search what you can for any for sale or sold on ebay or similar auction site.

Cut out any advertisements for same from any newspapers or magazines or gunshop brochures. Keep the whole page shpwing the date.

There is proof of your value. I dont know if it will be accepted but for what the rifle is worth would they quibble over this?

I dont know how it works over there, it would here.
