My preference is for the Ruger MKII, and in particular the Stainless-Steel 5 1/2" Bull Barrel version). In fact that is just what I happen to have currently. My Ruger belonged to my late brother and I purchased it from his widow after my brothers passing. Beings this was a special handgun I decided to dress it up a little. I added the following to it: Drilled & Tapped and added a Weigand Scope Base Hand Honed the Hammer & Sear so the trigger breaks like an icecyle at 2 1/2 Lbs. Clark Custom Guns Ruger Steel Trigger (hand fitted to the frame) Volquartsen Extended Bolt Stop / Release On Target Guns Blast Shield (to keep the crud from firing out of the trigger mechanism) Clark Custom Guns Ruger Grips (with filler panels on the top of the backstrap and bottom of the front strap to straighten out the grip angle) Volquartsen Finger Groove, Thumbrest Target Grips 1" Illusion Red Dot Optical Sight in Burris Zee Rings As can be seen these Handguns can be customized by the owner quite easily. Most of the modifications I did were not necessary but rather are things I wanted to do to make the gun easier for me to shoot. The result is an utterly reliable, super accurate Handgun that is a joy to shoot. Larry | |||
