I need help finding a tube magazine for a Browning BPR .22 Mag. This gun belonged to my brother and I would like to get it back to good operating condition. A trip to Brownings site confirmed that they don't have parts anymore and the only dealer they listed is also out. Any help would be appreciated, even for a used one. Thanks.

I can offer no direct help, but while I am not certain, I suspect that the tube for both the .22LR and .22 WMR versions were the same. I also suspect that the tube used in the BAR-22 was also the same one. You might broaden your search to include these models. Also, a little adaptation might be all that is required to make a tube for a Marlin, Savage, etc. work in your BPR.

if you're not getting any results, break out the micrometer and ruler & find one from some other gun that will either fit or be modified to fit

The OD of the tube is the normal .358 for the standard 22 LR tube, Browning used brass, while most are steel. The length of the tube is 18.20" The follower protrudes 2.050" from the end of the tube. Then the special end plug is .800" long NOW for the hard parts. Since this is a thicker wall tubing, you will only have about .008" of the ring inside to hold the dang follower ball end in place. That is why they used a metal follower and tight tolerances between the follower ball and the ID of the tube so the follower will not shoot off into space. The ID of the ring needs to be just so the Magnum rim will pass, but leave enough for the follower to stay inside. The end plug is very ODD, as it uses a spring loaded piveted lever, somewhat like the old Remington Model 12 & 121 rifles. You will not find it just any where, that is the big problem. The closest tube to this is the Winchester # 44275 as it is a Magnum, with that diameter of tubing, a little longer, but uses a 1/8" cross pin to hold the tube in place in the outer tube, and not the spring loaded piveted lever, and the follower is only .100 too short in its protursion. Yes I know that NOBODY has any of the BPR magazine assemblies anymore, I just simply have not had ANY TIME to even think about making any reproduction ones. James Wisner
