This weekend found a lovely Springfield Armory Model 1922M1 in basically brand new shape. Barrel is marked 7/30 (yes, it's that old). Haven't shot it yet...still deciding whether to keep it or sell it. From what I've been able to find out...sounds like a very accurate and neat rifle.

Had one several years ago and they are indeed a classic rifle with great heritage. Mine was in fair shape, but it shot quite well and due to a major move in location sold quite a few of my rifles but should have held on to that one. Great find for you.

Theses are wonderful rifles, legendary rifles. If I ever brought one home, they'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

There are many different variants. Not all parts are interchangeable, especially the magazines. Original magazines are almost non-existent. Mine is an M2 model, one of the last, dated 8/42. Mine shoots very accurately and is not very fussy about different brands of ammo.

I do not know about different variants, but I am told the M2 was an upgrade and was done to all the M1 that they cold find. Mine is a M2 with matching numbers and a 4-26 barrel date.
