22 Adapter Bases - use regular Weaver Style Rings

I've been thinking about getting a set of the Kwik-Site 22 Adapter Bases. These allow you to use regular Weaver Style Rings(like you would use on your Centerfire) on a Grooved 22Rimfire. Basically the Adapter Clamps into the Groove as a regular 22Rimfire Ring does, but the top of it is a Weaver Style Base.

Natchez had them listed for about $8.50 or so, but they are(were?) out. Did a search and found them elsewhere for $14-$19 plus Shipping. Decided to wait.

Did some Gun Shop drooling yesterday and happened to think about them. My Gun Shop had the same thing made by Ironsighter and were $9.99 plus Tax.

Just measured these and the top of the Weaver Style Base on the Ironsighter 22 Adapter is 5/8"(0.625") above the top of the Groove.

So, if you want to use your regular Weaver Style Rings on your 22Rimfire, or if you simply need a bit of extra height for a Large Objective Lens scope, these might help you out.

I try to keep a set of very cheap Low, Medium and High Weaver Style Rings on hand just to premount scopes and take measurements with. Not all Rings measure the same, but I can use them to determine which height Burris Signatures I really need without buying the wrong ones.

Are any of you all currently using any 22Adapter Bases? If so, any problems?

Best of luck to you all.

i used one or 2 - never had problems, just like using the 1" rings that fit the 22 dovetail better

I'm not familiar with the things you're talking about but I must ask... why?

All my rimfires have 1" scopes. I simply use the 1" scope rings made for the 1/2" dovetail on rimfire receivers! I'm sure I've used other brands but the last I had in the shop (several sets) were made by Millet. This way there is not worry about the scope being too high or something else to come loose.

Hey Oupa, For me it is a matter of not needing a lot of 22Rimfire Rings. I have a couple of sets now and they are indeed fine for mounting a Small Objective scope.

But, I like to do my Testing with a larger power scope, and when I buy one, 95% of the time I get a Large Objective so it is brighter in the Low Light(Twilight, overcast, heavy leaf cover overhead, etc.) conditions that I tend to Hunt. Some of the scopes just won't clear the Barrel with the 22RimfireRings that I have.

So, by using the 22 Adapter, I can use regular Weaver Style Rings and it raises the Ring 0.625" higher than normal. Meaning a "Low" Weaver Style Ring will still be Higher than the 22Rimfire Rings I currently have.

Once I know the accuracy potential of the specific 22Rimfire, then if I go to a smaller Objective scope, I'll probably use the existing 22Rimfire Rings I have and save the 22Adapter for future rifles. However, the Savage Mark II BTVS I recently got came with Weaver Style Bases on it which made mounting a scope really simple.

HC you could use the 22 rings and just bend the objective of the big scope up a little, just enuf to clear the barrel. hilbily you'd probably not notice a difference in your groups rotflmo

Hey Butch, Isn't that how Leupold designed that relatively new "missing Objective bottom" scope? Big Grin

The BAD part is - you may be correct about me not noticing a difference in my groups!!! shocker BOOM

Certain rimfires, like the CZ, have a really high bolt throw position which causes one to use very high rings. With an adapter, you get the extra height you need but can stay with medium rings. There's probably little difference than having used high rings but it does allow me to switch a scope to a different rifle if I want to.

I've been using BKL Scope Rings for several years. Worth a look.
