4.5-15 Nikon Buckmaster is an excellent choice for the 17HMR. Won't break the bank either. GHD

Agreed. I have a 4x12 Bushnell 3200 on my Cooper. Just fired about 15, 5 shot groups with it today at 50 yards. And even though I fired some of the best groups in my life felt slightly handicapped by the 12X.
4x16 or anything close to that would be about perfect.

I carry mine on almost every walk now.

What a versatile tool it has been, from squirrels to hogs.

I use a 1.5-6 Burris now.

Low power gives me good spotting ability on the

"runners".

6X gives me enough power out to 200+yds.

Originally I had a Bushnell 3-9 with the 17HMR

cam, I found I never used the cam and the 3X

was a bit to tight a field on the runners.

I use a 4x9 Bushnell Trophy on ours. Rugged and works great. About 100 bucks, more or less.

Not on a .17 HMR but my oldest daughter, son to be son in law, my nephew all have Mueller 4.5x14x40mm APV Riflescopes on .22 LR Rifles and a couple of friends are using the Mueller 4.5x14x40mm AO APV Riflescopes on their centerfire .22's.

For the $$$ they are a really decent scope. Not sure what you are wanting to spend but the Mueller's are right around $115.00. One place on the net has them for that price with a free 3" sunshade.

I had a BSA Sweet 17 on the Savage 93 I had. Say what you will about BSA scopes but that thing was sharp, sharp, sharp. I could easily see a fly on a stucco wall at 60 yards. I could also see the stucco texture. Pretty amazing for such an inexpensive scope. And the gun was a tack-driver, too. I put nine shots into a postage stamp at 100 yards-- in a stiff cross breeze and from a piece of foam rubber setting on the hood of my pick-up. I sold the rig for $200 because the ammo was as costly as reloaded .223Remington. I like a big noise and a bullet that will go out there a long way for my 25 cents...

When I first bought my .17HMR, I put a Leupold 4.5-14 on it, and thought that would be about right, but, after the 1st time I took it along with me to the Dakotas to shoot prairie dogs, when I got back, I bumped it up to a 6-24.
