I just took some photos of my CZ 453 Varmint that has been sitting in my closet for 4 years. Sent them to a smith, to look what can be done with that stock.

Looks better in person.

That thing is a mess. It's got all sorts of crazy lines etc.
If B L O'C decides he doesn't want it, after all is said and done, he can forward it on to me.
Sorry you got stuck with that sad little thing!

You know the really sad sad thing about this stock? CZ uses a stain that covers a good portion of the detail of the wood. If that finish were stripped off and cleaned down to new wood, then refinished with just a transparent oil or other finish, it would be eye popping. I look at my CZ american and wonder what else is there. You can see where grain is covered with this stuff. Just a thought, just my opinion, DW

I'm going camping this weekend, send it to me and I'll take care of it. Probably cook some marshmallows with it.

Just curious... what do you want done with the stock? It looks pretty good as is.

Well..

- shorten the forend a 1-2".
- recontour the grip/buttstock area
- slim the forrend for a more wrap around feel. Its a bit blocky now.
- Inletted studs
- Red pad??
- new oil treatment
- forend chekering

Steel treatment:
- rustblueing
- bend the trigger, so its positioned in the back, not in the middle of the trigger guard

Sounds good to me. While you're at it, you might want the bolt handle checkered.
