Not sure what the interest is here as far as rimfires go, but since I'm about to start my "middle" daughter's 10/22 build I thought I'd share some pics from my last attempt. Enjoy!

I don't go to all this work for nothing!!

I extended the front lug and added a second pivot screw for support. The pillars were turned from brass and made to look like the original escheuons.

After toying with open sights, I finally added a Weaver Grand Slam. I blasted the top of the receiver and flutes in the barrel for a two-tone effect.

My latest build is going to have more emphasis on open sights and traditional lines. I'm trying to design an "express" rifle with q-rib and ramped front sight. Just picked up a rem of 12L14 today Smiler

A great looking rifle.

I bought my daughter a Chipmunk on the day she was born. She is 5 now and enjoys shooting it i.

In fact, she brings her friends from school so daddy can teach them to shoot too. The ones who are older shoot an old Ruger 10/22 I rescued from my father.

I did not want to do as much custom work on it as you have done because it was probably the first 10/22 that came into our country.

My father used to carry it in his truck everywhere. The barrel had lost all the bluing, and the stock was in a very sad state indeed.

I gave him a Kimber, and took that rifle and changed its barrel and stock.

I put one of those Carbon fibre barrels on, and a synthetic stock. The receiver remians as it was, and it is used by every one who comes to shoot in our range.

The kids absolutely love it, and it is light enough for me to use to impress them with as I shoot it upside down with the stock resting on my forhead.

I should mention that I started out with an "unfinished" 17-4 stainless receiver, Shilen stainless blank and Richard's unfinished stock. I added a VQ hammer to the "missing" TG (thanks for noticing, Collins!!). With a Bentz chamber and reworked factory bolt, it'll shoot straws out of a Coke bottle.

Only regret is that it finished off a little heavy (at least for a 12 year old). My next build is going to have much lighter components. As much as I like the big bores, I'll never grow tired of my rimfires.

Being a newbie to AR, this forum has really given me some ideas for my next 10/22 build. I am fascinated by the express sights being built by gunmaker and others and hope to make something in the form of an "express lite." Here is the front sight model that I'm working on. I already bought some 12L14 to use as stock.
