My goal would be to make do with what I have in order to participate in the fun .22 sillouette matches at my local range. What I have is a Remington 41 targetmaster .22lr. This rifle seems to have decent accuracy. I also have a period correct 20x scope. I think this combo would be deadly on the little steel turkeys, and would look really cool too! The only problem is that there seems to be no easy way to mount a scope to the rifle. Does anyone know of a way to make this happen? My thought was that maybe I could take out the rear sight and use those holes to hold some kind of scope mount. If you have any thoughts or ideas, i would appreciate the responses. Also, feel free to tell me if you think its a dumb idea and I should just go buy a new rifle. Thanks

Never witnessed a 22 silhouette match, but I understand that they are shot from the offhand position. Unless your eye-hand coordination and physical control skills are top notch, you may find offhand with a 20-X scope very frustrating. I am shooting gallery schuetzen with a 12-X Unertl and wish very much I had a 4-X.

Yes, they are shot from the off hand position. Last time I shot the match was with a 4x scope, and I felt it would have been easier with a higer power. I could be wrong, but I beleive some of the better shooters there were using 20x scopes. I do have some other options for scopes I could throw on this rifle if need be. I am mainly trying to figure out if there is an easy way to mount a scope.
