My 10-22 is gettin worn out. Wanna do somethig different, want to see pictures if possible to get some ideas.

I have a bunch of 10-22's but don't have any pix of them.
As soon as the snow goes, I'll photograph some and post pix.

Ruger Race Rifle. Added a Simmons AETEC 4x14 scope. Had the occasional flyer. Not happy.

Dropped it off at CPC (http://www.ct-precision.com) for a "full tune up" (trigger job, bolt squared up, tuned and engine turned, recrowned muzzle + barrel set back and rechamber) + threaded the barrel into the receiver and had Randy turn down the muzzle end of the barrel.

does ~0.3" groups at 50 yards with SK plus or Wolf Match Extra ammo.

I recognize that pattern as a Claude "The Fraud" Gatewood stock. He claims to be a custom stockmaker but in reality he is a liar, cheat and thief. Because he is a paid sponsor of RFC, the admins censor all negative posts of his work from customers on their site. This is, in essence, a form of paid protection. It is close to the biggest scam in gunsmithing history I have ever seen (and there have been quite a few).

In addition to his unscrupulous business practices, he is a total nut-job. If you'd like to read any posts that I saved from my exchange with "Fraud" Gatewood, I'd be happy to send them to you. If you've already sent him a deposit for that stock pictured, you're pretty much screwed. That is, unless you're one of the lucky ones.

Probably not your idea of a Custom Ruger 10/22 but if fills the need I wanted when I started this project.

The Stock is a TAPCO T-6 Tactical Stock. I didn't like the looks of the rectangular blocky forend and thought there had to be a better way to make it feel more like my Bushmaster AR-15. So I started cutting and modifying and ended up attaching a DPMS AR-15 Carbine Length Aluminum Free Float Tube to what I had left of the TAPCO Forend once I finished cutting it up. At the same time I also took the factory Ruger Carbine Barrel and cut it off behind the front sight (ending up with a 17" Barrel) and recrowned the muzzle. I also did a total trigger job on this Ruger per instructions I found on another site resulting a super crisp & smooth trigger pull. I also did the Auto Bolt Modification so that now to release the bolt when it is in it's locked back position all I need to do is pull back on the charging handle and let the bolt go forward. I also radiused the bottom rear edge of the Bolt so it cycles much, much smoother now and doesn't stove pipe when shooting Standard Velocity / Target Ammo or Sub Sonic Hollow Points.

To get the scope the right height above the comb of the stock I used a Power Custom Scope Base with a pair of Yankee Hill Machine 1/2" Mini Risers to mount the old Tasco World Class 4x40mm Riflescope in Weaver 1" High Extension Quad Lock 4x4 Scope Rings.

I am very pleased with the end result. Even though it is lighter in over all weight than my Bushmaster 16" AR-15, the overall feel is the same.

Particulars are a billet-machined Tactical Innovations receiver in the 7075-T6 option; Volquartsen competition bolt and action spring; Kidd two-stage trigger; Clark Custom Guns mid-weight barrel (21.50" long and .720" at muzzle) and Revival Industries lefthand Tundra stock inletted for .920" barrels. Receiver can be ordered with or without Picatinny rail. Top of receiver is flat. Rail is screwed on with four 10-40 screws. Muzzle brake is a Shrewd (Brownells; $60) and was machined on/down at great expense because the job was done in just 48 hours. Brake comes in 1.00" diameter and adds two inches to barrel. Uses every inch of a 42-inch Ace Case Company soft case. Scope is some cheap, mil-dot, illuminated reticle, 3-9X NcStar thing that's on there just for fun. Looks good but won't cycle worth a damn. I have about $1600 in it, sans scope. I'm hoping it just needs some workin' in, the substitution of a stock Ruger action spring over the VQ in it now or maybe I just need to use better ammo. I use the 550-count Remington copper-washed, hollow-point stuff we used to be able to buy at Walmart for ten bucks. The gun would fire two, three, four or so, then half-eject the last one. I gave up on figuring out why and now the thing just sets in the closet, almost as useless as a certain Kenyan under whom we all must suffer...

Stock: Seems Revival Industries is out of business, but there are many other makers from which to choose your stock.
Bolt: The VQ website seems not to list a bolt for individual sale. I bought mine for about $190 at a gunshow from R & S Precision Sports, LLC, at 150 South Highway 160, #C8-323 in Pahrump, NV 89048.
