Here is the last Kimber I am refinishing. It is a 3 digit serial number. Sorry but it is already sold to an AR member. I apologize for the lack of staging and photo quality but thought you all would like to see it. It is almost finished. Two small flaws I am not happy with to take care of yet.
Let me know what you all think about the rifle.
Thanks,
Mike

Looks like a nice piece of wood. I have one with a Leupold 12x M8 target scope on it. I shoot it about 500 rounds a summer, prone with a sling, just to keep my skills up. Good buy and great prone rifle.

They have all had nice wood except where they were cut up from the clowns doing inventory. Some were really spectacular. Everyone I sold these to has been very happy with them. In the end I didn't even keep one for myself. Needed the cash more than another rifle at the moment but don't think I am not having regrets. A couple more coats of oil and this one should be good to go off to its new home. I will say that fixing the wood is easy but dealing with that damn acid conversion varnish they used on these was a pia. In the end it is as much a labor of love as anything else.

Mike looks good, hope it's a shooter.

I wish I could have bought one of the "rusties" from the CMP when they were available, if not two. Just didn't have the cash. Good rifles and some of course had nice wood too- worth the effort of a re-do job.

I got one from Mike and it is a damn fine rifle! Three of my shooting buddies did too.

With a beautiful refinish.

JTEX,
Thanks for the kind words. It makes me feel good to know all the work I put into these is appreciated. You guys still shooting in the league or is it done until spring? Maybe you guys could het a picture of all of you with your rifles for me? In would love to see it.

Evan,
I wish I could have afforded more. I bought a dozen total over a couple year period. I drove to the CMP multiple times to hand pick these. Then put hours into the refinishing on each one. Made a small profit but not if you figured my time. I however didn't do it for that although the money helped at a time we needed it. I fell in love with these rifles when they first offered them 5 or 6 years back before the "rusty" ones. There is something about taking a damaged item such as this and returning it to its former glory. I am still amazed at the quality of the wood they put on these "trainers". Everyone of these has been a tack driver and will hold its own at 50 yards with anything they have gone up against. The fact that they are beautiful is another bonus. I started this project intending to keep one or two for myself but that didn't happen. I put a lot of myself into these and in the end felt a bit of a loss as well as pride in everyone I shipped out. I also have to say thanks to everyone who gave me guidance and encouragement. That is especially true for Dennis Smith. Thanks to all.

There is a Kimber 82G for sale for $450 at my club.
It's been for sale a long time. I looked at it a few times, looks real nice. Not sure why it's never been sold.

Is your club close to Austin? If so would have my son buy it for me.

Received the Kimber from Mike and it is FLAWLESS. Yep, that's mine in the picture!! Mike did a super job working the cut-line out of the stock, to a point it isn't noticeable to the naked eye..... and the original Kimber finish was not disturbed!!! Almost too pretty to shoot!!!

Thanks Mike for going above and beyond what is the norm. Your work exceeded my expectations and it was nice dealing with such an honest, straight forward professional.

Got any more Kimbers????

Cheers,
John

Thanks John! Once again it gives me great pride to know that someone appreciates all the time I invested in these. If that one in Austin is still for sale for $450 somebody better grab it quick. That is a great price. Even if it is one that is cut up bad it can all be fixed. Thank you all again for the kind words. now I want to see target pictures with one ragged hole. Smiler
