waveThis is only the second time out with the MKII w/ accutrigger. Still trying to determine the best ammo for it.All shooting was at 50 yds. Cold day almost no wind.I'm somewhat new to rim fire paper punching.

  • Zapper*******10 rounds 3/4" 1 flyer about an inch out.

  • Aguila SuperExtra Eley prime 38 gr. This I was told was the contemporary replacement for the Zapper bsflagnot even close;10 shot 2" group.

  • Aguila Golden Eagle Match Rifle 40 grain, Eley prime. !0 shot 1 1/2" group.

  • American Eagle ,segragated into 3 weight catagories. All three groups performed good.Point of impact between catagories were only slightly different if at all. Groups were somewhat less than 1" for the most part with one flyer out of about twenty rounds.

  • RWS Dynamit Nobel 40 gr.. A 5 shot 3/4" group. Two weeks ago it shot about 1 1/2"???

  • Wolf Match Target 40gr.10 shot group 1/2"

  • To date the best has been SK match ( Lapua ). 5 shots in a .30 cal hole size. thumb

It looks like the Savage shows great promise.

It definitely looks like your rifle has excellent potential. thumb

Do you plan on trying the WW 40 grain Power Point HP? It's one of my favorites for small game -- and it generally groups as well as some of the better match ammo.

    Thanks for the report!

I will try that along with the Win. Xpert 22 36gr. HP. And again the Win.XT22LR 40 gr.T22 Target which 2 weeks ago printed a 5 shot 3/4" group. fishingroger

You may want to try Remington Sub Sonic also. My bull barrel MKII shot the Wolf target and the Remington Sub Sonic bullets very well at 50 yards. Near equal performance with the Wolf being just a bit tighter.

    bartsche,

You appear to be shooting one group. Ten shot groups, and some five shot groups. This will be inconsistent with a rimfire no matter the ammo.

For instance you mention RWS Dynamit Nobel shot 3/4 inch 10 shot group, and then 1.5 inch two weeks ago. That is almost to be expected. Next week it might shoot .5 inch or something different.

If you wish to do single groups 30 shot groups will start to give you the measure of the ammo. But keeping concentration that long is tough plus one errant shot will ruin the group. Ten 5-shot groups will also tell you plenty about ammo. Do ten 5 shot groups and average the groups sizes. You will find the average of such groups will be pretty consistent week to week. Some of those will be surprisingly large, some will be pleasingly small. But the average will give you a good measure of the ammo in your rifle for comparitive purposes.

SK std+ is supposed to be the same as Wolf match target. Lapua makes both.
