I have a Brno #1 on the way. I plan to put a Nikon 4x Monarch on it. What mounts are available and what do you all reccomend? Low height or medium. Anything about the rifle that I should be aware of? Are some stocked in Walnut and others in Beech? I welcome your input. Thanks

Don't know anythig about them, but a few years ago here the gunshops were selling them, supposed to have been factory referbished.

On later models two shooters here in the last two weeks have had scope mounts slide off the front dovetail. Apparently they're not tapered like Sako's are.

These guns sold from Numrich Arms as I recall about some 5 to 10 years ago..I bought about two dozen of them and refinished the nice European stocks and checkered them, rust blued them and sold them..They every one shot like little tiny groups..What nice rifles they were..As I recall I paid $100 plus on them and sold them for $375..I wish I had kept every one of them...The best bolt action .22 L.R. I have ever seen...and pretty to boot.

Ray,
I think they may have been a little earlier than this. Mine says C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT ZKM451
It says BRNO MOD1 cal22 Long Rifle on the left side of the receiver. A nice rifle. I am working on a 2 oz. trigger for it and also for the 452.

Thanks guys. I got mine and it is very nice. The folding "express sights" are really neat and I like the stock shape better than the 452's. Mine is a beech stock but my gunsmith showed me his cigar box of wood stains and said " I can make it look like any wood you want ". I finally found a Burris mini 4x on Ebay and warne mounts are coming.

The reason I bought it was I had 3 spare magazines. Leftover from a Dennis Olsen custom built on the Norinco action. Wish I still had it but life goes on. Crazy reason to buy a rifle but there may be worse reasons.

Butch,
I am not sure, just guessing, but I do know that all those Brnos I bought had European Walnut schnable forend stocks, clip fed and had leaf rear sights, two or three????? I had a Redfield 3/4" 22 scope that was really nice and had Jack Belk cut a set of Talley bases to fit, Refinished the stock and checkered it with a mullard border..It was awesome and shot extremely well, but yeah I sold it just like I do damn near every gun that passes my hands! I am a gun whore deluxe, then their was the never fired 45-90 in a wood crate that I sold for $150 in my mispent youth, and thought I cut a fat hog! wave

Nice rifle- here's a link to a beauty I scored last year. Metalwork near perfect and I carefully gave the stock a recondition.

Excuse the random pics- put up for a German guy who wanted to see a few things..
Only comment I'd make about mounting scopes is that you need fairly tall rings to clear the ocular bell on the bolt handle . If you can live with this, they sure shoot. Built to a standard in those days.
