My friend Todd brought a runout measuring tool, which had a dial on it.

I replaced that with a 4 digit digital tool.

I though I will run some accuracy tests on ammo measured with it.

I am in the process of separating the ammo, and my first box was an Eley Match.

Here is what I got

Out of 50 rounds.

0.0000 5
0.0005 11
0.0010 14
0.0015 3
0.0020 5
0.0025 2
0.0030 4
0.0035 4
0.0040 1
0.0045 1

Now that looks like fun. Will you use the Bleiker (SP?)?

Yes I will use our Bleiker.

Some genius here shot the box I measured - would not have made any difference anyway, as that was from a different lot.

I measure a whole brick of 500 from the same lot, and here is what I got.

0.0005. 32
0.0010. 166
0.0015. 69
0.0020. 114
0.0025. 50
0.0030. 45
0.0035. 13
0.0040. 8
0.0045. 2
0.0070. 1

I have enough of the top 6 listed above to shoot 5, 5 shot groups. That should give us an idea of how things work out.

I am in the process of sorting ELEY SPORT ammo, will let you know the results.

Very interesting. Why not use the last 24 rounds to shoot a few groups, keeping them in order to see how they compare with those of lesser runouts?

What about separating some of the larger groups, (keeping say 1/2 of the groups unsorted by wt. as a control) by wt. and see if that makes any difference or how much?

Here are the results.

Everything should be self explanatory.

I took the worst ones and mixed them together, and that is what is shown in MIXED target.

The last four targets were with ELEY BIOTHLON ammo, shot by my friend Todd Kindler a few weeks ago.

The rifle had a Leupold VX6 set at 32X.
