One of our sons and I went out to the desert today to plink around with a couple of tricked out 10/22's. We found a dump pile of some concrete waste that had a lot of one foot square chunks that were 4-5" thick. We propped them up so that we were shooting at the thickness of the pieces and cut loose with the 22's. It was impressive to see what 50 rounds of 22 ammo will do a chunk of concrete that size as it just turned to rubble at around 70 yards!!!!!!

Tean - Perhaps you remember a couple of decades back when there was an AR-180 which was sold as an urban police fully-automatic .22 RF weapon with a pancake magazine of (IIRC) 177 rounds capacity on top? (It wasn't the same design as the Armalite AR-180 intended to replace the AR-15.) One of the ways the sales reps reportedly liked to demo it was to set up an 8x8x16 concrete blocks wall and then chew a hole (make a "door" or "window") through it. The gun wasn't very loud, sounded like a thin piece of canvas being ripped very quickly, but it sure was impressive. One of the suggested applications was taking urban snipers off of roofs where they felt safe ducked behind the facades.

We're showing our age Alberta; that was more like three or four decades ago. Do a Google Image search for "American 180" It looked like what would happen if the Lewis Gun and a Thompson SMG had a 22 caliber baby. I recall that one accessory was a laser sight about the size of a foot-long chunk of 2x6. IIRC the high point of its career was when the bad guys used one to ruin Charles Bronson's watermelon stand in the 1974 Mr. Majestyk.

Actually I do remember that gun and I think a company in Utah bought the rights to it but I don't think they ever took it anywhere. I think I saw one for sale for $10,000!!!!!! I found a video on U-tube that showed a AR-180 in action. They had a special 275 round magazine that sat on top of the action and used the weight of the ammo in the magazine to aid in the feeding of same into the action. It shows them shooting 275 rounds in 11 seconds which is like 1400 rounds per minute for a fire rate. It does have a unique sound as anything that fires that fast tends to lose the distinct sound of a particular round being fired but sounds like a continuous noise. It did demolish the cinder block targets.
